San Mar has been providing unconditional care to the most vulnerable children and families in Washington County since its founding in 1883. Today, in addition to Treatment Foster Care services with local families, the focus has been on prevention by operating an outpatient mental health clinic, the Jack E. Barr Center for Well-Being, as well as a community initiative for families in the South End of Hagerstown known as the Bester Community of Hope. San Mar serves over 1000 individuals annually through these diverse programs.
Full-Service Housing for Transition Age Youth - San Mar is now embarking on a multi-million dollar project to renovate its original orphanage and group home, most recently used for office space, to a 15-unit apartment building for young women transitioning from foster or group care to independence. The program aims to build a bridge from systems of care to stable and thriving adulthood.
To give through a donor-advised fund, please request a gift distribution to San Mar Children's Home, Inc. EIN: 52-0625106, and notify Elisa of the amount to include your gift in this fundraising total.
