Children need you in their corner!
We know that our community cares about kids, and yet Washington County still has a higher than average rate of child fatality due to abuse in the state of Maryland. This tragic reality must be changed... and we need your help!
During April - National Child Abuse Prevention Month - we want to shine a light on the issue and what you can do to make a difference for children and families throughout our community. For example, did you know that supporting families at risk can prevent a child from being removed from the home at a cost of approximately $100 per month? However, once a child enters the foster care system, the cost to provide care goes up to approximately $4,800 per child, per month!
At San Mar, we believe in the power of prevention! Won't you join us?
Our $20,000 goal is to cover 200 local children with prevention services. $100 will cover one child, and $500 will cover five children, and so on. Or consider a monthly gift to keep the care going all year!
